TECHNIQUE Swinging!

Jake and I headed to the salmon river in Idaho for an exploratory trip. Early reports indicated there were a fish fish about so we were quite optimistic.

During the two days we fished, Jake hooked into 7 steelhead and I hooked into 5, though we only landed 3 fish.

My big fish was the most meorable as it was my first steelhead on a spey rod. I caught it with my first cast in a deep run, along the side of a hundred yard long rapid.  As soon as the line came to the end of the swing it hit like a freight train!!  This 34 incher was the bigest of all that we hooked and capped a great early season weekend.
